I have a feeling that this entire time, O'Brien has been working for the thought police and Winston will be able to face Big Brother himself and Big Brother will talk to Winston convincing him that there is nothing he can do to stop his ways, somewhat like what happened in the end of Brave New World.
Or this is a test from O'Brien to see if Winston can handle being captured. And that test will set Winston's ultimate faith in the Brotherhood.
